- The Stone: The faceted beads in warm browns, tans, greys, and reds are petrified wood. These were ancient trees that were buried under earth or volcanic ash. Slowly, their cells were replaced by minerals until the wood became stone. Some beads still show the original grain and growth rings of the tree they once were. The darker, reflective faceted beads are labradorite, catching occasional flashes of blue and gold as they move. Set between small gold-tone disc spacers and finished with a sterling silver clasp.

The process begins when a fallen tree is buried quickly enough to prevent decay. Mineral-rich water then enters the wood.
